Students will have a different project to sew each week. Make one or make them all! Please bring a portable sewing machine with a fresh size 18/20 needle. There are 2 rental machines available, first come first serve. Sewing kits are provided and cost between $15 - $20 and include required materials to complete each project.

Learn all the basics of using a sewing machine! Practice all the terms and techniques in a fun relaxed way, then create your own cowl with a hidden pocket. Perfect accessory gift! Students will need to bring 2 yards of fabric, fat quarter/scrap, sewing pins, and coordinating zipper or pay $8 to the instructor first night of class she will provide materials. Classroom has sewing machines, irons, cutting mats.

As an introduction to the Spanish language, this course emphasizes basic and practical conversational skills. Focus will be on language acquisition through highly interactive and entertaining method called Total Physical Response. Grammar learning will be minimal. A note book will be needed and a recording device if desired.

Substitute Teacher Training I

Substitute teaching is a way to help your community while earning extra money. This workshop provides information about school expectations, teachers’ lesson plans, and assertive discipline. Persons who complete this course successfully may be enrolled as substitute teachers for SAD 17. (College degree preferred but not required.) Must advance register for 1 session.

Watercolor Still Life

This four week class will be for intermediate students that have been painting for awhile and have taken some prior watercolor classes. I will be setting up a colorful still life that we will paint for this series. Our focus will be on value, color and light. New techniques such as under painting, saran wrap and rubbing alcohol will be introduced. This will be a great class to advance in!!

Woodworking Basics

This hands-on hobby class begins with instruction on shop and equipment safety, the correct use of tools and equipment, proper woodworking techniques, and project planning. Students will work to create a beautiful, finished wood project of their choosing. Required student-provided personal protective equipment: safety glasses, closed-toed shoes or boots, gloves appropriate for working with wood and hand tools.
