Basic Computer Skills

Students will explore the Windows desktop, learn mouse skills, navigating folders and files, navigating the internet, sending emails (is students don’t already have an email account they will learn how to set one up). They will also learn about security and what to be cautious of when using computers. Students will get a brief introduction to useful programs (MS Office).


Beginning Beekeeping

This beginning course will cover the basics needed to get started in the exciting hobby of beekeeping. Participants will be shown how to assemble hive equipment, use a smoker and veil, acquire bees and install them in a hive, inspect and manage a hive throughout the seasons and produce honey. Textbook, First Lessons in Beekeeping, can be purchased from instructor at first class.

Body Blast-BJSHS

This high intensity workout is sure to leave no muscle untouched! This one hour class gets your heart rate up with movements of cardiovascular training, strength training, core work, and stretching. Please bring a mat, water bottle,m sneakers, and weights (3lb. or 5lb.).

Calendar at 9 am, runs for 8 weeks

This course follows the CRMA standardized design as provided by the State of Maine, Dividion of Licensing & Regulatroy Services, and Community Service Programs. The curriculum requires 35-40 hours of classroom time as well as a clinical component under the supervision of an R.N. Instructor. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will obtain a certificate from the State of Maine and be certified to provide medication administration in the residential setting. Re-certification is required every 2 years. The registration fee includes all training materials. Class size limited. (Class dates & times subject to change).

Observatory Training

Learn to use the telescope at the Twitchell Observatory to survey the night skies. You must be able to climb the ladder to the telescope. Adults who complete the course may be certified to use the observatory on their own.

You will learn constellations, all the bright stars, plus we map stars to find them. IMPORTANT: Class postponed due to weather will be rescheduled for one of the alternate nights - please be available for those nights, if needed. Bring: clipboard, pencil, paper, and a head lamp with a steady red light (non-blinking).
